Prism Propane To “Flare” Tanks In Preparation For A Move

George NewsThis morning, Prism Propane Services of Ohio’s Chief Operating Officer George Walton announced that the company plans to “flare” its tanks in North Baltimore tomorrow morning, August 5, starting around 9 a.m.

Conducting a controlled burn of the remaining gas in the two, emptied 30,000-gallon tanks is a safety precaution, prior to moving the tanks to an alternate location to the west of the office facility at 1399 Business Park Drive South, North Baltimore.

Walton said, “We expect to see a flame rise 10 to 25 feet above the propane tanks from the relief valve. Although flaring is an impressive sight, Prism doesn’t want to see anyone in harm’s way during this procedure. Prism has alerted local fire departments to the flaring, which is expected to take several days, and the driveway will be blocked to normal traffic.

In preparation for the heating season, Prism has just released its Budget Enrollment and Pre-buy Price Protection Plans, which can be found at https://www.prismpropane.com

Propane is a hydrocarbon produced from both natural gas processing and crude oil refining, in roughly equal amounts. It is nontoxic, colorless and virtually odorless. As with natural gas, a strong identifying odor is added so the gas can be readily detected. Under normal conditions of use, propane is a clean burning fuel with approximately two and one half times the BTUs contained in a cubic foot of methane, the principal component of natural gas.
