Hancock-Wood Electric Board Elects Prism Solutions Trustees

On September 24, during a Prism Solutions Board meeting, the Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative (HWEC) Board elected two trustees to the Prism Solutions board. Each trustee will serve a three-year term, beginning October 22, 2013. Prism Solutions Board of Trustees governs operations of Prism Propane Services of Ohio, LLC, a subsidiary of Hancock-Wood.

Three candidates competed for two vacant seats on the board, due to expiring terms. Don Barker of Portage Township was re-elected and will continue his role as vice president. He and newcomer David George of Arcadia will be sworn in as Prism Solutions trustees during the Prism Solutions Board annual meeting next month. George will fill the seat vacated by Steve Gerten. John Rose of Arlington was unsuccessful in his bid.

Barker, a former HWEC Board president, is a life-long farmer and a former employee of Dow Chemical Company. He is a graduate of McComb High School and served as a Portage Chapel Methodist Church member, McComb Board of Education president and as Hancock County Farm Bureau chairman. He and his wife Jeanette have five children, Sonja, Brad, David, Dennis and Karen.

George also is a life-long farmer and self-employed as a mechanic, after working for 26 years as a foreman for Marathon Oil Corporation. He was graduated from Arcadia High School and Lincoln Technical Institute, where he specialized in auto diesel mechanics. George is a member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church Choir and a trustee of the church’s finance and missions committees. Aside from his Farm Bureau Board duties, he also serves on the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Oasis Praise Band. He and his wife Terri have four children, Lindsey, Derek, Tasha and Derol.

Prism Solutions Board members are David Corbin, president; Don Barker, vice president; Tom Kagy, secretary/treasurer; and members James Demler and David George. George Walton is the company chief operating officer.
